Ensuring Ongoing Cost-Effective Compliance

Because of the amount of organisational change in every company, people issues will be a continual challenge in compliance and a risk for compliance audits. A simple and effective way of addressing this challenge is to use Online Knowledge Assessment and Management Tools to test the knowledge of your personnel at key stages e.g. when they transition into a role, during annual walkthroughs, after IT system changes. The tests can highlight any gaps of knowledge in terms of their roles, the processes and controls for which they are responsible, and the currency of any expertise that they should have (e.g. international accounting standards).

The same online tools can then be used to train the personnel in any gaps that were highlighted by the tests. Because the tools are internet-based, the training and tests are easily compiled and rolled out to each user via their own desktop. Results from the tests can also be quickly compiled and reported.

Although an online assessment tool can specifically aid personnel in preparing for compliance audits, the use of such tests and checks also helps to set the tone that a company is serious about pervasive compliance. More generally, companies can then use the online assessment tool as a training aid when people move into a new role, and as an indicator of personnel's training needs.
