Consumer debt is now at an all time high of over £1,345bn, and is estimated to be rising by £1m every 4 minutes. CCJ applications
in England & Wales rose by 247k in the first quarter of 2007, up 10% on the same period last year, and judgments rose by 9.1% to 296k
– the highest level for 10 years.
It is hardly surprising that the Citizen’s Advice Bureau says that they are dealing with 5,300 debt problems a day. With an
average debt of over £13,000 it would take their average customer 77 years to pay off their debts.
In this context, this is an opportune time for a review of how UK water companies are responding to the debt challenge.
You now have the opportunity to take part in this year’s survey, which will highlight current industry performance and trends
and provide a benchmark across the industry.
